With summer just around the corner, most of us are starting to think about swimsuits and fun in the sun. Some of us may have put on a few pounds over the winter while others continue to fight a losing battle with midsection bulge or saddlebags. When a nutritious diet and targeted exercise cannot trim down isolated pockets of fat, Georgia Dermatology Center can help eliminate this unwanted baggage using the recently FDA approved Vanquish™ Laser Treatment. The Vanquish™ treatment procedure is one of the easiest, non-invasive body sculpting and fat reduction techniques available today. The beauty of this improved technology is that with the recommended number of treatments, you will notice a significant circumferential reduction of up to 2 to 3 inches on the abdomen, back or flank areas, without diet or exercise changes.

How Does Vanquish™ Work?

The Vanquish™ fat reduction procedure is non-invasive and the device does not physically touch the body, unlike other body sculpting devices that may involve the need for anesthesia, topical numbing applications, and selective freezing.  Selective radio frequency technology is used to heat unwanted fat cells at temperatures ranging from 100℉ to 120℉, which causes fat cells to rupture and die. The patient lies underneath an apparatus with adjustable panels that are positioned around the areas of the body to be treated, but without actually touching them. Sensors built into the device “read” the patient’s body fat and customize the amount of energy the machine will deliver during each 30-minute treatment. Results can be seen after only one treatment, but 4 treatments at one week intervals are recommended for optimal results.

Vanquish™ is not designed to be an alternative for weight management. Ideal candidates for the procedure are individuals who are in good overall health with stubborn areas of fat that have not responded to weight management and exercise. Proper hydration is advised prior to, and following the procedure, which helps the body eliminate the dead fat cells. It is also imperative that candidates eat well and exercise regularly in order to maintain the results of Vanquish™.

The Facts

  • Destroys about 60% of fat in targeted area
  • No surgical intervention, recovery time, anesthesia or sedation is needed
  • A sensation of warmth is reported during treatment
  • Optimal results are achievable after four painless 30 minute sessions
  • Pregnant or nursing women, individuals with a pacemaker, cardio converter, cochlear implant, or other metal implants are not candidates for Vanquish™ treatments.

Realistic Results

Excess fat does not appear overnight and it will not vanish in that manner either. Since fat cells are not removed at the time of the procedures but rather undergo a process of cell death, results can take 1 to 2 months before they become fully evident. The body must have time to be cleansed of the unwanted fat deposits, which can be helped by consuming plenty of water.
