Our MOHS Providers

We are proud to have Dr. David Olansky & Dr. Humza Ilyas at the Olansky practice in Atlanta and Roswell as experienced Mohs micrographic surgeons. They are both certified by the American College of Mohs Surgery, and Dr. Ilyas is board certified in Mohs surgery by the American Board of Dermatology. Together they bring a combined four plus decades of experience performing successful Mohs surgery on our patients. For your added comfort and convenience, we provide Mohs surgery and reconstruction at our office in lieu of going to a hospital or surgery center.

What is Mohs Surgery?

Developed in the 1930s by Dr. Frederick Mohs, Mohs micrographic surgery is an extremely effective treatment for a variety of skin cancers. Due to its accuracy, high success rate and cosmetically appropriate outcomes, Mohs remains the gold standard for skin cancer removal. The surgical specialists at our center are highly trained to perform this precise surgery with skill and technique refined through years of experience and study.

Mohs micrographic surgery is an advanced surgical procedure that removes skin cancer effectively using only local anesthesia. Mohs is a very precise, highly detailed technique in which small layers of skin are sequentially removed and immediately examined under the microscope until the samples indicate that the skin cancer is completely gone. By removing only tissue where cancer is known to be present, the technique combines a very high cure rate with good preservation of normal skin. This, in  turn, helps minimize scarring resulting from the procedure.

Olansky Dermatology & Aesthetics has their very own American College of Mohs Surgery certified surgeons at their Atlanta or Roswell practice.
