Ways to Zap Summer Skin Damage

Even if you were really careful and used lots of sun screen while outdoors this summer, chances are you still experienced some sun damage. As you put away your swimsuits, shorts and sandals, have you noticed your summertime fun left behind new spots, uneven skin tone or fine lines? Georgia Dermatology Med Spa in Cumming, GA offers some simple solutions to get your skin glowing again. These treatments require minimal to no downtime and can be done on a wide variety of skin types and conditions.

CHEMICAL PEELS

Chemical peels work to bring new skin to the surface to provide a healthy glow.  A chemical peel is a way to gently resurface the skin by removing the top layers using a mild to moderate chemical solution. The new skin makes pores appear smaller and can greatly diminish the appearance of fine lines, acne and discoloration. Chemical peels are completely customizable to fit each patient’s needs and lifestyle.

Because this is a mild procedure, you may require a series of treatments for optimal results.

REJUVENIZE PEEL

This is the deepest of the SkinMedica Peels, treating moderate to severe skin issues including sun damage, lines and wrinkles, acne, acne scarring, and melasma. Results can be seen after just one treatment.

Benefits of a Rejuvenize Peel:

  • Addresses visible signs of mild to moderate skin imperfections including appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, sun-damage, acne scarring, hyperpigmentation and melasma
  • Minimal downtime, visible flaking and may see mild peeling
  • Strongest Skin Medica peel that produces compelling results with moderate irritation

The Rejuvenize Peel by SkinMedica Peel is well tolerated with minimal irritation.

FOTO-FACIAL

Light from the sun is the cause of much of our skin’s aging. By using a specialized medically-selected light in specific wavelengths, you can actually repair a great deal of the damage the sun caused. IPL, also referred to Photofacial, Fotofacial or Photo laser, is a common acronym for Intense Pulsed Light.

Foto-Facial Is a tried and true treatment for repairing:

  • Pigmentation on the   face, arms, chest, hands
  • Lentigos (Sun-induced
    “freckles” or brownspots)
  • Liver or age spots
  • Facial flushing
  • Telangecstasia
  • Enlarged pores

FotoFacial reduces many forms of pigmentation and removes tiny red veins by the use of computer-controlled flashes of high intensity light. This light is absorbed by brown pigment (melanin) and red pigment (hemoglobin) instantly creating heat in those selected cells within your skin.

Heat destroys the melanin-making cells and breaks up the accumulated pigment. The small red vessels coagulate and are absorbed by the body’s cleansing mechanism.

MicroLaserPeel

MicroLaserPeel™ is a state-of-the-art anti-aging treatment that offers all the results of microdermabrasion or a chemical peel using a laser that is designed to target specific areas. MicroLaserPeel™ can reduce the appearance of facial scars, acne, acne scars, wrinkles, dark spots, and fine lines.

MicroLaserPeel™ is a superficial epidermal exfoliation to a light dermal resurfacing skin treatment. The procedure is individually tailored to the nature of the skin condition to be corrected such as wrinkles, scars, keratoses or pigmentation problems.

MicroLaserPeel™ treats skin conditions associated with aging and active lifestyles and is the ideal treatment for those patients who want improved skin with immediate but long-lasting results, very little downtime, discomfort or post-treatment care. The MicroLaser has long lasting results for six months or longer.

In order to ensure that your MicroLaserPeel™ procedure is as painless as possible, Dr. Alexander Gross will first apply a topical anesthetic to your skin before the procedure and then an Aquaphor or other Vaseline type ointment for your skin after the procedure while your skin is healing. After just two to four days, your skin will have achieved maximum results. Side effects include redness that may appear and feel like a sunburn, but should greatly decrease in one to two days, and should completely heal by the fourth day following the procedure.

ProFractional Laser

Pro Fractional Therapy is a quick and comfortable laser procedure with little downtime, used for improving the overall appearance of your skin. The treatment is performed in the office and can be custom tailored to your specific skin conditions and desired outcome.

Pro Fractional Therapy uses a tiny laser beam to treat thousands of pinpoint areas of your skin. Because only a fraction of your skin is directly treated with the laser, the surrounding untreated tissue promotes rapid healing. This skin’s wound healing response creates new collagen which adds firmness and resilience to the skin. This is the ideal fractional treatment for busy people on who don’t have time for several days of downtime.

As your skin heals in the days following your treatment, you may notice a general tightening effect. However, the true benefit of ProFractional treatment is the collagen remodeling that occurs during the 3 to 6 months following your treatment.

Dr. Alexander Gross at Georgia Dermatology Center in Cumming, GA owns all of his lasers. He believes that his collections of lasers are the safest and most effective fractional lasers on the market today.

Dr. Gross has patients who come to Georgia Dermatology Center for laser skin resurfacing from areas all over the Atlanta Metro area including Alpharetta, Roswell, Johns Creek, Gainesville, and Canton because of the experience and quality he offers.
