Tips for Using Retin A Tretinoin for Anti-Aging

Retin A is a topical prescription medication that is typically used to treat acne conditions. Also known as Tretinoin, Retin A’s active ingredient, this agent is a retinoid, a class of drugs that affects skin cell growth. When Retin A Tretinoin is used on the skin, it can work to produce a clearer facial appearance and minimize fine wrinkles.

Retin A Tretinoin is an anti-aging formulation that smooths fine lines and evens out hyperpigmentation. It is actually a form of Vitamin A, a natural substance that is found within our bodies. Retin A Tretinoin solutions will make skin feel smoother, help with mottled skin discolorations, and treat fine wrinkles.

Why Is Retin A Tretinoin So Popular As An Anti-Aging Treatment?

The quick answer to this question is that Retin A Tretinoin really works. It can fade sun spots and freckles and improve the skin’s texture due to its ability to make skin cells regenerate rapidly.

Retin-A achieves a very important goal in anti-aging treatments: it helps boost collagen levels in the skin. Collagen provides skin with firmness and elasticity, but as you age, your cells produce less collagen, allowing wrinkling and sagging to occur. When used correctly, Retin A Tretinoin can help you avoid wrinkles due to sun exposure and the aging process.

Using Retin A Tretinoin

Prescription strength Retin-A requires a visit to a physician for a skin care consultation. An Atlanta dermatology physician, such as Alexander Gross, M.D. at Georgia Dermatology Center located in Cumming, can provide you with the information you need to begin using Retin A Tretinoin if it is appropriate for your skin type.

Here are a few tips for using this medication for the best anti-aging results.

Always smooth on your Retin A treatment just before going to bed. The sun’s UV rays break down the Vitamin A, making the solution less active.

Wash your hands and face before applying. Pat your face dry, then wait 20-30 minutes or until your skin is thoroughly dry before applying. This is to avoid irritating your skin.

Wear sunscreen. Your skin cell turnover will increase in speed with use, making it very important to wear and reapply frequently a sunscreen of SPF 30 or higher on your face for protection during the day, every day. You’re at a higher risk for getting a sunburn if you don’t use sunscreen or if you apply Tretinoin in the morning.

Use just a pea-sized portion. This is enough for your face. Dab a bit from this portion onto your forehead, cheeks, and chin, then smooth it around. Use another pea-sized portion for your neck or chest if you need to apply in those areas, too.

Use a moisturizer. In order to reduce the initial irritation and flaking that can accompany use of Retin A Tretinoin, you can apply a moisturizer or face oil 45 minutes after your application. This gives the Retin-A time to penetrate your skin before you add another product to it. If irritation persists, use Retin-A every other or every third night until you can build up to nightly use.
