Waxing vs. Laser Hair Removal
Do you have unwanted body hair? Have you been waxing for years or are you sick of shaving? There are pros and cons to both waxing and laser hair removal. Let’s explore which one may be right for you.
Waxing
Waxing pulls hair out at the root, temporarily removing it for an average of about three weeks depending on your hair type and thickness. Some may keep their smooth skin for up to six weeks. Great for those with dark, coarse hair, waxing is ideal for underarm areas, bikini lines, legs and facial hair. Depending on areas waxed and your salon of choice, each waxing treatment can range from $8-80. Some people may not be delighted to hear that waxing does involve a a growing process; the wax needs at least ÂĽ-inch of hair to adhere properly, which means that you will have to let hair grow out before being able to have another effective treatment. Waxing treatments may be a bit painful depending on your tolerance level; however, they can be more tolerable over time. Some people may experience ingrown hairs as a result of waxing.
Laser Hair Removal
Georgia Dermatology Center offers the power of elos™ laser technology to effectively remove unwanted hair from all areas of the body including the upper lip, cheeks, chin, neck, breasts, stomach, arms, shoulders, bikini area, legs, and back. Gentle enough to use on sensitive skin like bikini areas, the elos™ laser is powerful enough to remove all hair types. Using a combination of bi-polar radio frequency and light energies, the laser targets and destroys hair follicles in the treatment area. Hair growth will diminish following each treatment. Based on your skin tone, hair type, and the area being treated, Dr. Gross will determine how treatments are needed. During the treatment, the skin is cooled in order to provide safety and comfort. Most patients can return to their daily activities immediately and experience no down time.
