Dr. Alexander Gross received a Bachelor’s of Science degree in biology from Emory University and then attended medical school at the University of South Florida’s College of Medicine. Upon receiving his medical degree he completed an internship and residency in internal medicine at Emory University. He then completed a dermatology residency and fellowship at Vanderbilt University. Dr. Gross is board certified in both the fields of internal medicine and dermatology.
Dr. Gross lectures both locally and nationally, and has published numerous papers on dermatology. Dr. Gross is a Fellow American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery, American College of Laser Medicine and Surgery, and the American Society of Dermatologic Surgery. He is a member of the Annenberg Circle of Dermatology Foundation, the Atlanta Dermatological Association, the Georgia Dermatology Society, and the Southern Medical Association. In April 2008, Governor Sonny Perdue appointed Dr. Gross to the Georgia Composite Medical Board. Dr. Gross served as Chairman of the Board in 2011 and has been reappointed twice by Governor Nathan Deal. Dr. Gross was also influential in drafting and lobbying for the Medical and Laser Act that was passed in 2009, and chairs the laser licensing committee. He was influential in passage of The Georgia Indoor Tanning Act and The Georgia Physician Truth in Advertising Act.
In addition to his full time practice at Georgia Dermatology, Dr. Gross is an attending physician at Northside Forsyth Hospital. He is an Assistant Clinical Professor of Dermatology at Emory University, Assistant Clinical Professor of Community and Family Health Emory University Medical Center, Atlanta, GA., and trains residents and students from the Medical College of Georgia. Dr. Gross is Clinical Dermatology Attending Physician for Georgia Baptist Hospital Family Practice Residency program, Emory University Hospital Physician’s Assistant program, Atlanta, GA, and Medical College of Georgia Physician’s Assistant Program in Augusta, GA. Dr. Gross also trains other physicians to perform tumescent liposuction and cosmetic injectables.

After completing his residency at Vanderbilt, Dr. Alexander Gross made Georgia his home. He is married and has two adult sons. His interests outside of dermatology include his love of all types of music, watching professional sports, road biking, and occasionally playing the piano. Much of Dr. Gross’s spare time is spent volunteering and fund raising for numerous philanthropic organizations such as the American Cancer Society, The Arthritis Foundation, and Senior Citizens of Metropolitan Atlanta, Inc. which supports Meals on Wheels Atlanta and other programs that serve North Georgia Seniors. Dr. Gross shares his passion for helping the citizens of the north Georgia community with his wife as she has served as chairperson and organizer for such benefits as the Hospice Ball, Ballet Ball, Opera Ball and American Cancer Society Ball.

Our acclaimed providers, staff, and top-tier level of service will remain the same, Dr. Gross will be here to lead the charge at our Cumming office. We will continue to provide our patients with the same quality care and excellent service that has made us the “Best of Forsyth” for eight years in a row.
Georgia Dermatology Center’s suite of services will be increased by several additions. These include Mohs surgery, an advanced surgical procedure that removes skin cancer effectively using only local anesthesia. Additionally, this partnership will allow our patients to take advantage of a larger group of accepted insurance options. This widens the scope of patient access without incurring out-of-network fees.
The end result of this merger will only heighten patient care, and that our primary mission.
